Fairy tales can come true, it can happen to you…

Diablo Cody won the Oscar for best screenplay last night (in her own shoes no less) . Phew! I had my fingers crossed for her for about a week. It’s amazing, shes an ex stripper, turned blogger… turned Oscar winner. Its great to see her succeed. It proves that it not only can, but it does happen.

The Pussy Ranch

Diablo Cody is a real inspiration… she proves when you put pen to paper and you have an original thought and a unique voice to express it with that ANYTHING can happen.

Actually I thought that she totally DID NOT deserve to win. But, on the other hand, it didn’t look that the competition was that stiff.

Her screenplay was good, but it was nothing more than that. I thought the dialogue was completely ridiculous. No sixteen-year-old girl, no matter how precocious and smart, talks that way! Also, I was quite astonished that an ex-sex worker could treat teenage pregnancy in such a glib manner. Nowhere near enough attention was paid to the complex emotions and feelings a pregnant teenager would feel. It was all so fucking cute and twee.

Finally, I was pissed off that Juno actually had the baby when clearly she should have aborted the fucking thing! I realize that she needed to be pregnant for the sake of the plot but, c’mon, still!

And then, at the end, she gets together with that dorky kid, Bleeker!

She should have had an abortion, and then stayed single or found a guy with a bit more gumption.

And I can’t believe “Lars and the Real Girl” got a nomination, too! What the fuck?! The idea behind this film was good, but, once again, Hollywood made it all cutesy.

Both films would have been far better had they been darker. Thank fuck “No Country for Old Men” won best movie!
